However, between 1960 and 1980 other methods of creation and culturalisation from different social-historical periods were also being implemented in non-democratic regimes in Europe and Latin America. These other modalities broadened the disparate and plural flow of experimental and conceptual practices while at the same time affirming a critical, paradoxical and peripheral modernity. This seminar will cover a deferred action on certain derivés in experimental cinema, electroacoustic music and visual arts in a Basque and Spanish context. The creation of the new as otherness, of visual and sound forms that bring together a utopian, artistic and political dimension, will be analysed using case studies, documents and works. Presentations and talks with artists will provide participants with a greater understanding of those other conceptualisms and their past and present controversies.

Eugenio Dittborn (Santiago, Chile) Visual artist, painter and engraver. Linked to the Chilean avant-garde movements and the renewal of conceptual art in graphic and media formats, his best-known project, which he has been developing since the 1980s, is his airmail painting. These are works that are in transit around different cities in the world, to which they are posted and then unfolded and exhibited at each destination. They form a varied visual imaginarium of political and cultural memories and antagonisms, recreating them in new social and historical time frames. Using the airmail device and its forms of circulation, exhibition and reception, Dittborn seeks to make "small circular models of a possible memory". The workshop with Dittborn will begin with the reception and unfolding of a number of airmail paintings sent from Chile and will develop around discussion of those actions and ways of challenging the art institution.
