Mugatxoan 2010. Workshop for children

We want to orchestrate the sounds of catastrophes using everyday objects. With peas we make the sound of rain, with a sheet of plastic the sound of the wind. You will work with different microphones and discover sounds on the theme of disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, hurricanes, plane crashes and melting glaciers, but all on a small scale – models of catastrophes, no bigger than a shoe-box.

With : Eva Meyer-Keller, Rico Repotente and Sybille Muller

Date:

From 30 June to 2 July

Times: From 10:00 to 13:00.

Registration deadline: Until 23 June. Send a message to arteleku@gipuzkoa.net

Constructing after catastrophes _ sound project

We want to orchestrate the sounds of catastrophes using everyday objects.  With peas we make the sound of rain, with a sheet of plastic the sound of the wind. You will work with different microphones and discover sounds on the theme of disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, hurricanes, plane crashes and melting glaciers, but all on a small scale – models of catastrophes, no bigger than a shoe-box.

You will stage these catastrophe models, which means that each of you will select a disaster, you will be the director and you will choose the material and your orchestra. After having practiced and rehearsed in private, you will place your team with the material – e.g. who will be in charge of the rain, who will cut loose the fastenings, the wind, etc. – and then you will play out the whole drama of the catastrophe from beginning to end.

2 July at 13:00 the children will present the favourite models of the catastrophes that they have worked on to the public. The performance will last around 20-30 minutes.

Who is aimed at?

We are looking for 5 to 7 children aged 10 to 12 – boys and girls who know what a microphone is and how to make use of exciting tools.

We can only accept the participation of children who are available for the three days that the workshop lasts and therefore we need a letter of confirmation from your parents letting you take part in the whole workshop and authorising that the video recordings that we make can be used for documentary purposes.

Who are we?

Eva Meyer-Keller, Sybille Müller and Rico Repotente are from Berlin and in the last 10 years have worked in performance, dance, video and sound. www.evamk.de
