Alberto Cerro//Plastic Sound

This work sets out to make the intangible tangible: sound. We classify sound with adjectives that do not pertain to hearing, such as, for example, bright, coarse, humid, rotten…. By sonic plasticity I mean the modelling of sound, where the form depends on the malleable material, be it clay, mud, sludge, plasticine, etcetera. This material will be sensored within, using flexometers, accelerometers, microphones, etc., in order to feed this data into a computer which will in turn be converted into sound. There will be more than one malleable material and they will be able to connect to each other and interact like an analogue synthesiser. The user will model and connect these modules together, creating interactive sound sculptures.
