Notes by Slavek Kwi

“My main interest lies in the phenomena of perception as the fundamental determinant of relations with reality. Reality is so strange by its very nature that it’s difficult to imagine that it really exists...”

For the last 30 years I have been fascinated by many sound environments, focusing on what I call “sound paintings”. These complex audio-situations are created mainly from field recordings and site-specific recordings with a special interest in the eco-systems of tropical and sub-aquatic forests. As a result I make multi-channel sound works, as “cinema for ears” and multi-dimensional sound installations. This event is part of the ZoOo programme, with this second edition being devoted to the animal sound universe, carried out in collaboration with the environmental resource centre CRISTINA ENEA in Donostia-San Sebastián and PROYECTO AMARIKA PROIEKTUA in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
