Experiences with lithography techniques for artists

Application Form:
Any interested artist may register for the course. The application shall be sent to Arteleku, between June 25th, for the first workshop, and before July 25th for the second workshop, by means of submitting the attached registration form, curriculum vitae, and photographs or slides in colour of the work in question, indicating its size.
The selection process shall be carried out by the person running the workshop and his decision may not be appealed. The photographs/slides of the work will play an important role when selecting the participants. Admission to the course will be notified personally.
On the first day, the participants will have to show the Kutxa paying-slip, account number: 2101/0381/07/000132947/3.
The cost of the material will be funded by Arteleku within a limit established by the workshop manager. Workshop

The professional publishing workshop is open to artists and editors who are interested in publishing original graphic works. Arteleku is holding the workshop with qualitative high level material and equipment and it is run by an expert in manual lithography engraving.
Biography

Don Herbert. Detroit, USA, 1942. He has been running the Arteleku lithography workshop since 1987. A master engraver since 1974, he studied at Moorehead State University before completing his post-graduate studies at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, California. He worked as an assistant to Kenneth Price, the Californian artist, between 1969 and 1972, and as a lithographer for Lakeside Studio in Michigan. He then worked as an engraver at Grupo 15 between 1974 and 1980.

He set up the Don Herbert engraving studio in Madrid (1980-1993) and subsequently, in 1993, the Don Herbert studio at Arteleku, San Sebastian. He has taught as a visiting lecturer at numerous centres and universities, such as: the Fine Arts Faculty at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, the Fine Arts Faculty at Valencia Politecnica University, the Fine Arts Faculty at Barcelona University, Oporto’s Avore Contemporary Art Centre in Portugal, the School of Arts and Crafts in Oviedo, the Joan I Pilar Miró Foundation in Palma de Mallorca.

He has engraved and published works by artists from over 40 countries. As a painter, his works are included in the collections at Madrid’s Reina Sofia Museum, Cuenca’s Abstract Art Museum, Vitoria's Alava Museum, Madrid’s Joan March Foundation, the Placido Arango Collection, the Francisco Betancourt Collection, to name just a few.
