Beyond paper: the medium as a starting point
Given by: Allende Arnaiz and Nerea López, Daniel Canogar, Pepe Albacete.

5th–30th November.
Teaching hours: Mondays to Fridays, mornings and afternoons.
Silk-screening makes it possible for the image or motif to be printed on media that are different to those that are commonly used, that is, they go beyond paper, and as a result, beyond being a mere piece of graphic work. However, this question raises several questions or dilemmas: what is it that will condition the process of creating the work: the image or the medium?

-First stage (1st week): Silkscreen printing for beginners
Given by: Allende Arnaiz and Nerea López
The first week will be devoted to initiating the participants in silk-screening, in order to get to know the technique and learn what its possibilities and limitations are.

-Second stage (2nd week): Conception
Given by: Daniel Canogar
Each creator has a text and discourse of their own, which they will discover and produce at the same time throughout their creative process. During this week, participants will carry out a series of rapid exercises that will help them to gradually discover the key elements in their own discourse and will serve as outlines for a final project. Throughout the week theoretical presentations will be offered that are connected with contemporary creative activity, in which special emphasis will be placed on digital and serialised images. One of the key elements in the workshop will be the active participation of students, who will not only create silk-screen prints but will also discuss and analyse the results of their work.

-Third stage (3rd and 4th week): Technical resolution
Given by: Pepe Albacete
Once the conception of the work with respect to the material has been resolved, we will then establish the way to technically bring this piece to fruition. To do this, we will analyse and suggest the way to do this for each project. Participants will be responsible for bringing the final piece of work to fruition, and they will have the chance to use the silk-screening workshop at Arteleku, just like any other users of the workshop.

Nº of places: maximum of 6 people.
Price: 78.13 €
